Amarnath Yatra is conducted in a calm state of mind over a lengthy period of time, allowing you to let go of worldly attachments and have time for introspection. This journey, which leads to union with the divine and has profound moral significance, is one where you leave behind worldly attachments.

Lord Shiva is said to have relented when Ma Parvati, Lord Shiva's consort, insisted on knowing the secret of the Lord's immortality. So, in order to tell the story of Amar Katha (The Story of Immortality), Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati began looking for a place where no living entity could well. Then Lord Shiva started his journey from Pahalgam, where he left his 'vahana' (vehicle), Nandi, at Chandanwari, which ruled the moon; on reaching Sheshnag, he left the serpent and left his son Ganesha at Mahaguna Parvat. Finally, at Panjtarni, he released the five elements and thus
reached the cave. In the cave, Lord Shiva created Rudra Kalagni and ordered him to destroy any living thing near the cave with divine fire. Then, after ensuring that no living thing could hear the Amar Katha, the lord started telling Ma Parvati the tale. Interestingly, the fire saved two pigeon eggs that
were lying under the buckskin on which Lord Shiva was sitting. Unfortunately, Ma Parvati fell asleep in the middle of the story, but the two eggs hatched, heard the entire Amar Katha, and became immortal. Amarnath Yatra by helicopter is more than just a religious pilgrimage. Instead, a journey of faith takes you one step closer to Lord Shiva.

Answer: Amarnath Cave is located 6 kilometers from the Panjtarni Heliport. You can do the trek on foot, which will take around 2–3 hours, or hire a pony to reach Amarnath Cave from Panjtarni Helipad. The ponies take approximately an hour and a half to reach the sacred cave.

Answer. There is a limited time to perform the annual Amarnath Yatra, from the end of June to the end of August. However, all three months are monsoon season, so expect rainy weather to last for the entire yatra. As a result, the best months to do the Amarnath Yatra by helicopter are June and early to mid-July.

Answer. Whichever route you take, Baltal or Pahalgam, the Amarnath Yatra helicopter service from both sides will drop you off at Panjtarni Heliport.
